Business - BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate, Applied Pathway at Furze Platt Senior School
The content of this qualification has been developed in consultation with academics to ensure that it supports progression to higher education. Employers and professional bodies have also been involved and consulted to confirm that the content is appropriate
and consistent with current practice for learners planning to enter employment directly in the business sector. Learners taking this qualification will study mandatory units, which make up 100% of the learning programme covering the following content areas:
• business environments
• marketing and budgeting
Unit 1 – Exploring business (an extensive piece of writing in which students research different businesses and create an analytical report).
Unit 2 – Developing a marketing campaign. Students learn the finer aspects of marketing and then use the knowledge gained to produce a marketing campaign for a business set by BTEC.
Unit 3 – Personal and Business Finance
Unit 8 – Recruitment and Selection (an extensive piece of writing in which students explore every aspect of the recruitment process from advertising to interview).
GCSE Business at level 5 or above (as well as a level 5 in Maths and English)
Unit 1 – Coursework (Internally Assessed)
Unit 2 – Extenally Assessed (6 hour prep time and 3 hour examination)
Unit 3 – Externally Assessed (1 examination paper 2 hours in length)
Unit 8 – Coursework (Internally Assessed)
All business courses including management, HR or finance should accept you with this qualification (please check if applying for the Russell Group establishments).
