Course description

What topics are covered for AS?
1. Socialisation, culture & identity – this unit considers the importance of social class, gender, age and ethnicity. It includes the study of sociological research methods.
2. The family – This unit explores how family life is changing in contemporary Britain and why politicians see the family as the “cornerstone” of society.

What topics are covered for A2?
3. Crime and Deviance – what are the causes of crime in society? Who is most likely to be convicted? And how can we tackle the problem of crime?
4. Social Inequality with Research Methods - still as relevant today as any other period of history, why do societies have inequalities between groups? Are they inevitable?

Entry requirements

A good range of GCSEs with at least 5 at grade C or above, including English Language.
