Physics A Level at Newlands Girls' School
Through studying Physics you will gain insight into some of the most fundamental laws of nature. You will learn how this knowledge has developed through experiment, analysis, creativity and imagination. You will also develop the highly transferrable skills of practical problem solving. This is a challenging subject and is well regarded by both universities and employers.
You need to have achieved a minimum of grade BB in Double Science GCSE (to include at least grade B in all Physics modules) or a minimum of grade B in Physics GCSE to be considered for this course.
Owing to the extensive use of Mathematics and complex language in Physics we recommend grade C minimum in Mathematics GCSE and C in English Language GCSE.
AS students sit two examinations at the end of Y12 whilst A Level students sit three
examinations at the end of Y13.
You will be assessed on your investigative and practical skills throughout the course.
