Brickwork - Diploma Level 2 at Middlesbrough College

Course description

This one year qualification is for students wanting to progress to Level 3 in the building industry and want to learn intermediate brickwork skills and knowledge. This will cover a variety of skills such as constructing cavity walling, forming masonry structures, building solid walling and the overall principles of building construction.

Course content

The course will include theory and practical sessions in: Mandatory Units: Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction Principles of Building Construction, Information and Communication Interpreting Working Drawings to set out Masonry Structures Building Solid Walling, Isolated and Attached Piers Construct Cavity Walling Forming Masonry Structures

Entry requirements

4 GCSE at grade D or above including Maths, English Language & Science or Level 1in relevant trade area. Progressing learners must also have a Level 1 Functional Skills in Maths. "If you do not have a Grade A to C in English and/or Maths, you will be required to continue studying these subjects as part of your Study Programme."


Course-work, practical and unit based examinations and an online multi-choice exam.

Future opportunities

Upon successful completion of your Brickwork Level 2 course, you can progress to further study on the Level 3 Diploma in Brickwork course or an NVQ Level 3 qualification if employment is gained with a Brickwork company. Or building maintenance Level 2.
