Information & Communications Technology AS A2 at Kettering Buccleuch Academy
The world is increasingly dominated by the use of information and communication technology and the Applied A level in ICT that we offer aims to enable students to become proficient in the skills needed in this fast changing world. The course introduces students to the fundamentals of ICT and provides a foundation from which they can extend their knowledge in many directions.
All employers value ICT literate employees and AS/A applied ICT provides evidence of your skills in this area.
The course covers a variety of applications and their uses and develops problem solving skills. Along side this, students develop an understanding of the many uses of ICT in the modern world and learn to critically evaluate the impact that is has on the world around them.
A commitment to study – a pass at C grade or above at GCSE is beneficial but not essential.

Whether you choose to enter higher education or to enter the world of work after leaving the sixth form, AS/A level ICT will prove invaluable. You may choose to go into higher education to study for a degree or HND in many aspects of ICT, for example systems design or computer programming. There are many other degrees that offer units involving ICT and this course will provide a sound basis for a wide variety of courses.
