Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology EAL Level 3 Diploma/Diploma [Progressive] [QCF] at Brooklands College

Course description

These qualifications cover the advanced knowledge and understanding of the principles, methods and technology involved in electrical and electronic engineering.

The choice of qualification size means the learning programme can be tailored to various needs, as: 

  • either the Diploma option giving the learner a Technical Certificate for the Semta Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering Manufacture
  • or the Diploma [Progressive] offering learners without relevant experience direct access to a Level 3 qualification if they have achieved a Grade “B” in GCSE Maths and Grade “Cs” or above in English, Science and or Physics.

Who is the course suitable for?

Full Time learners who are seeking a career in Electronics engineering, Part Time learners who are already working in industry completing an Advanced Apprenticeship and or learners who wish to progress to Higher Education [HE].

QETA/003 Advanced mathematics. [Essential for progression to HE]

QETA/005 Advanced engineering Science. [Essential for progression to HE]
QETA/010 Programmable logic controllers [PLC’s]
QETA/012 Analogue electronics.
QETA/013 Digital electronics.
QETA/062 Panel wiring for engineering applications.

Diploma notes
1 .In order to achieve the Diploma option the learner is required to complete the two mandatory units, the EAL’s Group A unit and five units from Group B. The units listed above are the selected units for teaching at Brooklands College.

2. All learners will be required to study either unit 003, 004 or 005 although they may not be intending to progress to Higher Education [HE] on completion of the Level 3 diploma.

Diploma [Progressive] notes

1 .In order to achieve the Diploma [Progressive] option the learner is required to complete the three mandatory units, the two units from EAL’s Group A and B and five of the optional units from Group C. The units listed above are the selected units for teaching at Brooklands College.

2. In order to progress to Higher Education [HE], the learners must achieve units 003,004 and 005.

3. All learners will be required to study either unit 003, 004 or 005 although they may not be intending to progress to Higher Education [HE] on completion of the Level 3 diploma.

Assessment

The course is assessed through multiple choice exams and assignments.

Financial information

Students are allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred.

Future opportunities

Possible career opportunities include Electrical and Electronic Engineer, Security Systems Maintenance Engineer, Cyber Technology, Engineering Maintenance Technician, or other related roles in Manufacturing Engineering or Telecommunications.
