Hairdressing Intermediate Apprenticeship How to apply Level 2 at Milton Keynes College
This programme will help you gain the practical and theoretical knowledge you need to become a graduate stylist. You will cover cutting, colouring, perming, blow-drying, setting, long hair work, shampooing, conditioning, reception skills, health and safety in the salon, working as part of a team, cost effective use of resources, retailing and the importance of first impressions. You will also need to purchase a kit and uniform (information will be provided) approx. price of £120. If you are 19+ there will be a cost incurred for the course.
To take part in this programme you will need:
- enthusiasm for the subject
- good communication skills
- the ability to develop team work skills
- a desire to work in the hairdressing industry
- ideally 4 GCSEs at grade D or above, including Maths and English or an NVQ 1 with a good report
- to be in paid employment.
The majority of the programme is assessed in the workplace. However, you will be required to attend College 1 day a week, which will normally lead to a qualification that is achieved by completing assignments. You will be allocated a named assessor who will guide and support you throughout your Apprenticeship programme. Your assessor will visit you at least every 4 weeks for assessment or study support purposes. A review will be carried out every twelve weeks or less to identify progress and set new targets.
Applicants who complete the programme can look forward to progressing to the Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 Hairdressing programme.
