Music Technology, Level 3 Extended Diploma at Abingdon and Witney College

Course description

This Level 3 Extended Diploma course is equivalent to three A Levels and gives you experience of all aspects of music technology and production through a programme of classes, workshops and seminars using industry standard music and sound equipment. During this course you will develop skills in the areas of music theory, harmony, publishing, arranging and listening. Study computer technology in music production including midi and audio recording as well as develop skills in sound reproduction in both the recording and live arenas. Learn about composing and editing music for multimedia productions, film and computer games and study the music industry and event management. This course, with its emphasis on practical work, requires a large amount of teamwork and is assessed through coursework. Abingdon and Witney College have well established links with creative and cultural industries within Oxfordshire and beyond. We use these links to ensure you get a real-world experience and exposure as an emerging Creative.


Entry requirements

You will need to have 5 qualifications from Functional Skills Level 2 or GCSEs at grade C or above. OR: Level 2 Diploma in Music Technology, Live Events or Backstage Production at Merit or above. You will also be required to provide a written personal statement, a positive reference and to attend a formal interview demonstrating your experience (performing, instrumentalist, vocalist, DJ, MC etc.).
