Sport BTEC level 3 at The Heathland School
The BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport is equivalent to three A Levels and is highly valued by employers, universities and colleges. Some of the most important skills that are developed on a PE course involve working with and motivating other people, which are transferable to most Jobs/Careers. This often means that students who have studied PE are popular candidates for a wide variety of jobs and careers.

The large part of the course is theory based. However, some theory lessons will incorporate a practical element. There will also be an opportunity to take part in some work experience as part of the course. (It is possible that some of the Units students cover may be subject to change).
Students must attain at least 4 A*-C grades with at least D grades in English Language and Mathematics and a total point score of 34+ in the student’s best 8 subjects. GCSE Theory of PE or BTEC SPORT Level 2 are not an essential prerequisite for embarking on this course but would be advantageous.
The course will run over two years which gives pupils the chance to complete projects and assignments. The course will also include 40% external assessment.
The sports industry is big business and there is an increasing number of career pathways that can be followed, including those that lead to high profile and lucrative careers.
