Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Level 1 Diploma at Sandwell College

Course description

This one-year course is ideal for school leavers who wish to study and gain practical experience in a wide variety of automotive trades. It is a good foundation programme if you want to develop a career in the automotive industry.

 

Course content

The programme is approximately 35% practical and 65% theory. Students are always encouraged to gain subject-related work experience.

 

 

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, although GCSE grades D-G in English, Maths and ICT are an advantage. Candidates will attend a formal interview, followed by a college devised test. Commitment and enthusiasm for the automotive industry are essential.

Assessment

The course is primarily assessed through college devised assessments and external online examinations, spread over the course of the year. Practical assessments will also form part of the qualification.

Future opportunities

On completion of this course successful learners may choose to progress to Level 2 or consider a career as an apprentice in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
