Computer Science A level at Woldgate School and Sixth Form College

Course description

Computer Science is a fundamentally different subject to Information Communication Technology (ICT) and this course will help you make the leap from just using software to developing your own software from scratch. Throughout this course, you will develop a strong foundation of programming languages, principles and methodologies. This focus will enable you to sharpen your problem solving and critical thinking skills, which in turn will help you to understand and navigate all levels of programming languages. This course aims to teach you many practical skills that can be transferred into the real world; you will be expected to develop fully functional software solutions to real life problems following the software development life cycle. This will culminate in the production of a portfolio consisting of a computer programmed system and the associated documentation for a real client.
