Functional Skills – MathematicsEntry Level 1,2,3 and Level 1and Level 2 at Colne Community School

Course description

Functional Skills Mathematics is offered at Entry 1,2,3 and Levels 1 and 2 as standalone qualifications for Post-16 learners and can be completed within a year. Functional Skills is becoming recognized by employers as evidence of the problem solving and communication skills needed to perform effectively in the workplace.

Each qualification is worth points, for example Level 2 is worth 23 points which is equivalent to half a grade C at GCSE. Anyone who wants to go on to study for a Diploma or an apprenticeship after passing their GCSE in Mathematics will need to sit the Functional Skills qualification.

This is a one year course where students will be representing situations using mathematics, analysing situations mathematically, interpreting solutions to problems using mathematics.

Entry requirements

You need to have been working at GCSE Maths grades G to E for Level 1 and grades E to D for Level 2. For Entry Level you would have beenworking below grade G at GCSE Maths level.
