P.E. GCSE at Grange Technology College

Course description

This two year course allows you to demonstrate and improve your practical skills in a range of different sports. Whilst also allowing you to develop your knowledge of the theory behind how to become successful in sport.

Course content

You will learn the various techniques and skills to play, lead and officiate in a range of sports. You will analyse the performance of yourself and others, whilst also developing your knowledge of the effects of exercise and how to train and look after the body to improve sporting performance..

Entry requirements

A keen interest in sport!!!


60% is practically based - Taking part in sport and showing your knowledge.

40% will be assessed through an 1 hour 45 min exam at the end of year 11. If you enjoy sports why not use your skill, enthusiasm or knowledge to gain a qualification!!!

Future opportunities

This course provides a very strong foundation for students wishing to study sport based AS GCE courses at colleges and in the 6th form. These include coaching courses, A-Level PE, BTEC Nationals in Sport etc. Following this students can progress to sports based university courses.

Examples of career path ways following university are teaching, sports development, sports marketing, physiotherapy, professional coach, leisure centre manager and many more!!
