Sport (Development, Coaching & Fitness) BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma at Churchill Community College

Course description

This course leadsto a worthwhile and recognised qualification in Sport as well as provide a range of opportunities and experiencesto students who are prepared to go one step further and take a proactive approach to the course. As part of this course students will also complete the Higher Sports Leader Award (HSLA).

Students that select this course will also be part of our unique ‘Partnersinto Work’ programme. Thisisthe only programme of itstype in the borough that isled in conjunction with Sport North Tyneside. Students will be taught the employability skills that will enable them to make a more efficient transition into the working industry. Students have taken part in residential trips, volunteering projects; including the London Olympics and Street Games, coaching training courses and qualification courses. Forsome this hasresulted in employment as part of the Sport North Tyneside Development team.

Entry requirements

Minimum of 5A*-C at GCSE including a Grade c or above in Science and English Language. It is also preferred thatstudents achieve at least a Merit in Level 2 BTEC Sport or a minimum of a Grade C in GCSE PE.


100% coursework.

The Subsidiary diploma includes 60 credits ofstudy delivered over 2 years. This qualification is equivalent to 1 A Level.
