German - AS at Wallington County Grammar School

Course description

AS German uses as ‘communicative’ an approach as possible, focusing on all four language skills areas, encouraging confidence and real competence amongst students. These skill areas are developed through studying social and political issues relating to past, contemporary and future German society. Students are encouraged to spend some time abroad, either as part of a work experience programme or as part of an exchange programme with our contacts in Germany. With increasing contact between countries and the growth of the European Union the value of language studies to Higher Education and employment is evident in ever widening career areas. Having a language at AS will certainly improve your employability.

Future opportunities

Career options include those related to German or European Languages such as teaching, translating or in the travel or tourism sector.Higher education options include a degree in German or a combination of language skills with Business Studies, Economics, IT, Engineering or Sciences.
