Mathematics A Level at Northgate High School

Course description

At the end of Year 12 students will take two AS examinations: • Paper 1 - Pure Mathematics and Statistics • Paper 2 - Pure Mathematics and Mechanics

The full A Level course is examined terminally by three 2 hour papers: • Paper 1 - Pure Mathematics • Paper 2 - Pure Mathematics and Statistics • Paper 3 - Pure Mathematics and Mechanics

Course content

Include traditional and investigational methods. Students will do both individual and group work. Regular homework assignments will be set and students will be expected to own a graphics calculator.

Entry requirements

Subject specific entry requirements: GCSE grade 6 in Mathematics

Future opportunities

A university course or employment in the science, computing or business world would benefit from a qualification in A Level Mathematics. A good grade in A Level Mathematics is needed for a degree in Mathematics (Further Mathematics would be expected for Oxford or Cambridge).
