BTEC Hospitality Level 3 at Blyth Academy

Course description

This is a one or two year vocational course for those interested in working within the field of Hospitality and/or Catering. It aims to equip you with a range of skills, knowledge and experiences, which will develop your understanding, ability and confidence when working within Hospitality and Catering. Hospitality and Catering includes working in hotels, restaurants, cafes, travel, tourism and leisure facilities.

To complete the course you will be required to achieve 30 unit credits in Year 12 and a further 30 unit credits in Year 13.

Course content

What is the course content and what will I study in Year 12?

You will work towards the compleĈŸon of coursework units covering some of the following topics:

 The hospitality industry

 Food and drinks service

 Providing customer service

 Contemporary world food

 Preparing and managing hospitality events.


What is the course content and what will I study in Year 13?

Year 12 work can be extended into Year 13 by covering some of the following units:

 Principles of supervising customer service

 European food

 Asian food

 Food service organisation

 Principles of food safety supervision

Entry requirements

Students are required to achieve a C in English.



Future opportunities

Foundation Degree in Catering & Hospitality, Degrees in Hospitality Management, Event Management, Hospitality and Tourism, Catering Operations.
