A Level Physics at Kingston College
Studying A Level Physics will develop your understanding of the laws that govern the behaviours of the physical world around us, from the nuclei of atoms to the movement of stars and galaxies. This course gives you the opportunity to make clear links between Physics theory and its practical applications in real life situations, and to apply your understanding to familiar and more challenging new situations through a wide range of problem solving activities.
A Level Physics is a linear qualification with students taking the final exam after two years of study. The course comprises of modules in: development of practical skills; foundations in physics; forces and motion; electrons, waves and photons; Newtonian world and astrophysics: particles and medical physics. A Level Physics is examined by completing three written exam papers.

A Level entry criteria are a minimum of five GCSEs, at grades 9-5, all in academic subjects. These must include a minimum of a grade 5 in GCSE English and a grade 5 in GCSE Mathematics. Students must have taken two science GCSEs, achieving a minimum of a grade 5 in both. This qualification can only be studied alongside two other A Level subjects.
