German at Drayton Manor High School

Course description

Pupils develop understanding of contemporary German society through studying a range of texts. Authentic spoken and written sources are used to introduce issues for discussion as well as to develop language skills. The course will help students develop general study skills and in particular to learn to communicate at a higher level in the language chosen. Students will also learn much more about a wide range of aspects of the society or societies in which the language is spoken.

Future opportunities

You could take this course with other advanced level course or equivalent to prepare for higher education in German, other languages or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to German or European Languages such as a Teacher, Translator, or you may wish to use your German to study or work over in Germany. The course will also help you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for, especially in the travel and tourism sector.
