Course description

Media Studies is the close scrutiny and deconstruction of a wide range of media text, ranging from print media, such as magazines, newspapers, advertising, posters, and leaflets to moving texts like films, reality TV, sit-coms, music videos and the news. We will also study new media and explore websites and pod-casts as well as investigate what impact these emerging technologies have on an audience. Because media texts are produced within a constantly evolving world in the second year students will have to study these texts within their social cultural, economic or political contexts.
