Travel and Tourism City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma at Gateshead College

Course description

You’ll study all aspects of the travel and tourism industry including world and UK holiday destinations and attractions.
You will develop your knowledge of the travel and tourism industry, looking at how airlines, tour operators, hotels, travel agents and visitor attractions operate.  
You will develop skills around customer service and explore how to sell travel and tourism products.
Due to the popularity of a job as a  Holiday Representative you will also get the chance to develop your knowledge and understanding of the role by greeting passengers on arrival and presenting a welcome meeting.
This courses is delivered by a team of qualified staff who all have industry experience, the courses will include trips' and visits, it is expected that you will attend at least one to gain valuable experience.

You will gain valuable work experience in a real environment as well as attend visits to travel and tourism destinations and organisations.

Entry requirements

There aren't any specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners might find it useful if they have already completed a Level 1 qualification.

Future opportunities

You could enter employment as a holiday representative, travel advisor, hotel receptionist or a role within an airline or tourist attraction.

Fast-track to an apprenticeship

If you can’t find the right apprenticeship vacancy or you want to do some studying first - no problem. You can start on a vocational study programme then once you’re ready and a vacancy becomes available, we’ll help you transfer on to an apprenticeship.

    • Gateshead College's Baltic Campus is located on the Gateshead quayside, just minutes from Newcastle City Centre and its attractions.

      The College is situated behind the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art and The Sage Gateshead.

      The College has its own car park, but at busy times alternative parking is available nearby.

      There is a charge for parking. Students can apply for a permit to allow free parking during study time.
