Hospitality Diploma Level 2 at Bexhill College

Course description

This Level 2 course is ideal for anyone who has an interest in cooking and the hospitality industry. If you would like to develop your skills and gain the necessary experience to go on to have a career in the hospitality industry then this qualification is for you.

Course content

You will study the hospitality and catering business by working with others to develop employability skills and to provide a service and food for functions and events. Students will take part in preparing and serving food for mini-functions such as the Awards Evenings and will work alongside our catering students for some functions.
You will explore all aspects of the business including:

  • Introducing the Hospitality Industry (exam)
  • Working in the Hospitality Industry
  • Food, Safety and Health and Safety
  • How the Hospitality Industry contributes to Healthy Lifestyles (exam)
  • Teamwork in Hospitality
  • Planning, Preparing and Cooking Food
  • Food and Beverage Service
  • Accommodation Services
  • Planning and Running a Hospitality Event
  • Managing Finance

Entry requirements

A range of 3/2 or D-E grades at GCSE.


Your assessment will be through practical tasks related to the functions, event hospitality and catering with written assignments supporting these. There will also be two external tests. Students may have to take part in evening functions as part of their course.

Financial information

There will be transport costs to work placements and some transport costs for group visits. There will also be a uniform for functions and events. You will also need to produce ingredients for practical work.

Future opportunities

Having acquired the generic skills you can progress into employment within a wide range of catering businesses or onto further training in related areas.
