Sociology at Hele's School
An interest in people, how they live, how they organise themselves, what they say and do, what their views are based upon; an analytical, evaluative mind; willingness to read widely; able to work independently; be fully prepared for lessons; strong work ethic; excellent attendance; ability to produce clear, coherent argument in essay form.
Throughout both AS and A2 elements of the course, students will be developing their understanding of sociological theory and research design. They will deepen their understanding of key issues such as socialisation, culture and identity. These will be applied to the substantive areas of Sociology covered in each unit. Students will be encouraged to gain knowledge and critical understanding of social processes and changes. They will need to develop a critical and reflective approach to their work.
At least 5 GCSEs Grade A* to C to include at least Grade B in English.
