Art BTEC level 2 at Queen Katharine Academy

Course description

BTECs are vocationally related qualifications. Art and Design encourages personal development through practical participation through a broad and balanced introduction to the core skills and knowledge necessary for work or further education in Art and Design. It is a 240 guided-learning-hour qualification (equivalent to two GCSEs) that has core, mandatory and optional units.

Course content

BTEC Art and Design is a very good companion to most other BTECs or an introduction to further art study. It may be your main area of interest or a subject that adds breadth and creativity to your course

Entry requirements

An interest in Art and Design and ability to draw. Prepared for and motivated to work consistently and independently to achieve the requirements of the qualification.

Assessment

The BTEC Level 2 Certificate qualification is graded at Level 2 Pass, Level 2 Merit, Level 2 Distinction and Level 2 Distinction*. Two units are externally set and externally assessed and four are internally set and internally assessed.

Future opportunities

You could progress to other qualifications such as the Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Nationals, A-levels in Art and Design or an apprenticeship.
