BTEC Level 3 Information Technology. at St Thomas More Catholic Academy - Trinity Sixth Form

Course description

Level 3 gives students a more in-depth understanding of ICT in the modern workplace, giving insights into ICT's role in specialist careers.

As an alternative to an Applied GCE or similar exam-based course, they provide ongoing learning and assessment of the practical skills and knowledge.

This course takes two years to complete, in which you will study ICT related areas such as problem solving, multimedia, sounds, video & collaborative working.

Course content

ICT in the Trinity Sixth Form is delivered by St Thomas More Catholic College, in an interesting and stimulating style, using a range of innovative resources combined with the best traditional teaching methods to provide an environment that caters for anyone, regardless of their favourite way of learning.

Teachers use a variety of activities to deliver the A-Levels including group work, independant study, demonstrations, presentations and workshops to ensure your potential is maximised.

We ensure we develop close working relationships with all our students so you are comfortable in seeking help when required.

Entry requirements

The Double Award requires a grade C pass in GCSE.


GCSE A grade will be required for Maths, Physics & Chemistry. At least a GCSE B grade will be required for Biology & Modern Languages with a B in a Science subject required for Psychology.




The Double Award is 100% coursework which is all assessed internally.

Future opportunities

The course focuses on new skills and theory knowledge in the subject. Students studying ICT at advanced level will have acces to a number of options on completing the course. The course will allow you to explore a wide range of roles and skills in business and ICT today.

Lessons in The Trinity Sixth Form are taught in two blocks, a morning and an afternoon, with a flexible lunchtime in between. Some students will find that all of their subjects will be taught in the same school, while others may choose subjects taught in another school.

Transport will be provided free during the lunchtime, so you don't have to worry about getting from morning to afternoon classes. Free before and after transport is also available to and from your home school if required.
