Physics at UTC Leeds

Course description

A Level Physics is one of the most respected Level 3 qualifications. Students who complete this course will be well equipped to enter any Scientific or Engineering degree courses or to enter the world of professional engineering.


Course content

There are 8 core units and a number of optional units.
The core units are:
1. Measurements and their units
2. Particles and Radiation
3. Waves
4. Mechanics and Materials
5. Electricity
6. Further Mechanics and Thermal Physics
7. Fields and their consequences
8. Nuclear Physics
Astrophysics, Medical Physics, Engineering Physics, Turning points in Physics, Electronics

Entry requirements

Students will be expected to achieve at least a grade B in Double Science, or Physics where separate sciences have been covered. A good grade (B+) in Mathematics is also required.

There are no costs involved in studying this course.


Future opportunities

All courses at UTC Leeds will allow progression to University, Apprenticeship or the world of work. You will be prepared academically and will have the skills needed for employment.
