Bricklaying City & Guilds Intermediate Diploma Level 2 at Fareham College

Course description

This skills-based programme is designed to provide a sound foundation for a career in the construction industry as a bricklayer.

You will develop your skills by undertaking a range of practical workshop activities, and gain an understanding of supporting theoretical knowledge.

All students will be expected to complete qualifications in English and Maths and be given the opportunity to gain specific employability skills.

Course content

  • Knowledge in information, quantities and communication

  • Building construction and technology

  • Interpretation of working drawings to set out masonry structures

  • Thin joint masonry and cladding

  • Solid walling, isolated and attached piers

  • Cavity wall structures


Entry requirements

  • Level 1 Bricklaying Diploma or five GCSEs at grade D or above.
  • Documented site experience could be taken into consideration.

Financial information

Student will be expected to provide their own overalls and safety footwear. All other resources & equipment will be provided. We will be able to discuss course requirements at your application interview.

Future opportunities

You can progress on to Level 3 Bricklaying Diploma, an Apprenticeship or employment. Employment could include working on construction sites within a brickwork team, specialist garden feature construction work, or in landscape architecture.
