A variety of practical, examined and un-examined lessons will be delivered to allow the student to develop skills, perform and acquire qualifications with UCAS points attached.
Acting Skills: Practical lessons to improve acting skills culminating in a solo Level 3 Acting examination from the LAMDA performance syllabus. UCAS points apply.
Text Studies: Exploration of texts and theatre practitioners to provide historical context to theatre and its development: Term 1 & 2 = Greek Theatre, Term 3 & 4 = Elizabethan/Jacobean, Term 5 & 6 = Twentieth Century Playwrights
Voice and the Actor: Practical lessons to explore the use of the voice for performance culminating in a solo Level 3 Verse & Prose examination from the LAMDA communication syllabus. UCAS points apply.
Singing: Group singing lessons to allow the development of vocal quality, control and delivery within a group environment.
Dance: Group dance lessons to explore different styles of dance performance.
Stage Combat: Terms 1-4 students will follow a course of combat for the stage which will culminate in a basic level stage combat examination through BASSC.
Theatre for Children: Terms 1 & 2 students will adapt, rehearse and perform a well-known children's story to selected primary schools.
Theatre in Education: Terms 3 & 4 students will adapt, rehearse and perform a topic from the PSHE sylla-bus to selected primary schools.
Production Rehearsal: Terms 5 & 6, students will rehearse for an end of year performance.
Students preparing for entry to drama school or to read drama at higher education and wish to develop practical skills in all aspects of performance including acting, dance, singing, voice, stage combat andperformance. Entry requirements are a grade C in Drama GCSE or a successful audition.
