A Level Health & Social Care at Appleby Heritage Centre

Course description

The GCE in Health and Social Care allows students to build skills as well as technical knowledge. It gives them a broad base of understanding whilst allowing them also to focus in specialist areas e.g. Health / Early Years / Care of older people or individuals with specific needs.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Course content

AS Level:

 

Unit 1: Human growth and development

Unit 2: Communication and values in care

Unit 3: Positive care environments

 

A2 Level:

 

Unit 4: Promoting health and well-being

Unit 5: Meeting individual needs

Unit 6: Investigating disease

Entry requirements

Students are normally expected to have 4 GCSEs at Grades A*-C.

 

Future opportunities

The qualification is graded A-E and attracts the standard UCAS tariff points. It is a good insight for those who may wish to study Health and Social Care or Early Years at university or who are considering employment. It also equips you with valuable personal skills for university, work and life.
