Course description

Those people who are either about to enter employment or are currently working as trainees or technicians in the construction, civil engineering or building services engineering sector. The following vocational areas are covered by this course: design/architecture, building surveying, quantity surveying, estimating building control, civil engineering, building services engineering, heating and ventilation or refrigeration.

  • Design and Surveying in Construction & Civil Engineering

  • Graphical Detailing in CBE
  • Further Mathematics
  • Project in CBE
  • Setting out processes in Construction & Civil Engineering
  • Structural Mechanics in Construction & Civil Engineering

Entry requirements

Ideally employed within the industry, 4 GCSEs at grade A* - C and a successful interview.

Assessment

A variety of assessment methods are used including written reports, phase tests, presentations and practical exercises.

Future opportunities

Learners can progress into employment and/or Higher Education qualifications e.g. Higher National Certificate. Learners can also progress on to degree level programmes at university.
