Preparation for Employment at South & City College Birmingham

Course description

This course is designed to develop your skills so you are ready to move towards working in a supported employment situation: you can choose to study catering, retail, horticulture, or performance/creative work. You will work on individual goals, which could include work skills, communication skills (speaking/signing, listening, reading and writing) and confidence, and practical skills such as handling money, using public transport, along with specific practical skills for your chosen area of study. You will also have specific sessions to improve your basic skills (speaking/signing, listening, reading and writing). You may undertake some work experience in college or a simulated workplace.

There are no formal entry requirements. Applicants are interviewed to establish their learning goals and devise their programme.
