Extended Project (EPQ) AQA - Out of Block @ The Leigh Academy at LAT16 Leigh

Course description

This course would suit students who have a particular interest in a specific area of research that they would like to examine further.  Previous topics include the influence of technology on young children, the quality of teacher training provisions, the impact of popular music on teenagers and the benefits of young enterprise.

Course content

  • Part A: Written dissertation and artefact
  • Part B: Formal presentation

Entry requirements

  • 5+ GCSE’s A*-C (9-4)
  • Grade 6 in English Language, Mathematics and a Science related subject

Assessment

The course is structured in two parts.  The first introduces you to the demands of academic writing including research methods, referencing, presentations, formatting, reviewing and evaluating.  This is followed by independent study where you will work on your dissertation or artefact.

This course is timetabled out of block.  This means you can study this subject in addition to your three A Level subjects.
