Edexcel Mathematics AS and A2 level
The course is comprised of two components:
Core Mathematics is a study of algebra, geometry, sequences and series, trigonometry and calculus, and forms two thirds of the course.
Statistics and probability make up the remainder of the course.
Entry requirements:- It is essential that students have studied GCSE mathematics at higher level and have achieved grade B or above. Statistics GCSE may be beneficial but it is not essential.
For AS there are three module tests, Core 1 and Core 2, and Statistics 1.
For an A2 qualification a further three module tests are taken, Core 3, Core 4 and Statistics 2.
There is no coursework component.
Mathematics A-level is excellent preparation for university, especially if you wish to study any maths-related subject such as Engineering, Sciences, Computing or Technology, as well as Mathematics itself. It is also accepted for entry onto many other university courses, including Medicine, Optometry and Acturial Science.
The school supplies textbooks and stationary but students are expected to provide their own scientific calculators.
