Music Practitioners - Level 2 Sub Diploma at Yorkshire Coast College

This is an ideal programme for school leavers who want to explore the different possible career options open to them. This programme is designed to help learners achieve GCSE standard in specialist music skills including grade five standard performance skills for those wishing to progress to our Level 3 Performing Musician programme.
The course will include the following units:
- Music production using the iMAC suite
- Logic Software
- Live performance skills
- Instrumental skills
- DJ skills
A passion for music and 4 GCSE Grades A-E, some evidence of instrumental or vocal skills or track making is desired but not essential.
Upon successful completion of the Level 2 Diploma for Music Practitioners you could choose to progress onto the Level 3 Diploma where you will be able to choose one of two routes: Performing Musician pathway or Digital Musician pathway.
Today many Musicians are either self-employed or undertake a ‘composite-career’ which means they’ll have another career, such as teaching, which they’ll do alongside performance work. Our former learners are successfully working in music related jobs as live Sound Engineers, Music Technicians, Instrument Repair Specialists, Teachers and Performers.
The local average wage on entry into a career in the Music Industry – depending on qualification – is £14,000.
