Social Care Cadet Scheme Level 3 at Furness College
For a career in the caring industry in jobs such as nursing, social work and residential care then these full-time courses give you the knowledge and the practical weekly work placement to help you achieve this.
Cadets gain extensive experience working in community care settings as well as learning the skills and theory at college which are needed for a career in the health sector. Units studied are intended to give high-level, broad-based knowledge to assist students
to access a chosen career in the health care or social care field. Units include: communication, social and psychological aspects of care, health and safety, clients’ rights, and physical aspects of health.
Maths and English form part of this course and will be assessed at the relevant levels.
Five GCSEs at grades A - C (including English and maths). Other relevant experience and/or qualifications will be considered.
You will be assessed through a combination of written assignments, portfolio work and observation of practical skills in the workplace.
There are no additional costs.
Students can progress on to university education in nursing, social work, radiography or other professions allied to medicine. Other routes are employment in the field of health and social care in the health care sector. Progression is based on aptitude and a successful interview.
