Vehicle Systems City & Guilds Entry Level Diploma at South Downs College
This course is primarily designed for students who have left school with low GCSE grades and students wish to gain wide range of skills within the motor vehicle industry.
During a typical week you will spend majority of the hours in the workshop with underpinning knowledge given in classroom based sessions.
During your year you will be given the opportunity to trips, team building activities.
You will also have the opportunity to gain a Halfords discount trade card with guest speakers from the Automotive industry.

You will be expected to study English and Math Functional Skills.
At least 1 GCSE at grade F or above. This must include English and Maths.
You may gain entry with other Automotive qualifications these will be when we have gained sufficient references from past schools or colleges.
You will be required to have the entry requirements for the course and, provided you meet the criteria, you will be considered for progression to the next Level in the year after.
The theory elements are assessed within the classroom with short test there are also a series of practical assignments and the completion of a portfolio of evidence.
All practical tasks are demonstrated and you will be given the opportunity to practice the task and when the assessor feels you are confident, you will be assessed carrying out the task unsupervised.
On successful completion of Entry Level you may progress to the next level or alternatively you could also develop your skills in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
We promote volunteering in a garage during your course as it will enhance your skills and increase your opportunities for an apprenticeship.
This course works in line with the apprenticeship framework for NVQ City and Guilds or the IMI.
