Theatrical, Special Effects, Hair and Media Make-up Level 3 Diploma at Epping Forest College
This exciting leading course is designed to bring out your creativity and flair for theatrical media make-up in readiness for a career in this competitive industry. Using demonstrations, the course introduces the techniques of fashion and photographic make-up, high definition airbrush make-up, body painting, prosthetic pieces and bald caps, postiches, camouflage make-up, hair- up techniques and dressing hair for various occasions. There will be the opportunity to practice skills on fellow students and the practical elements of the course are combined with the study of anatomy and physiology, health and safety and client care in beauty related industries.
During your course you will be involved in many events including educational visits, open events, promotional events both in the college and at external venues, charity events, client salon sessions, student and class led events. There will also be guest speakers and industry training opportunities, competitions and a fantastic end of year show.

English & Maths is included as part of your study programme at EFC. All students will be working towards a GCSE Grade C in English Language & Maths alongside their chosen subject. If you’ve already achieved these grades, we will work with you to develop your literacy and numeracy skills further throughout the year.
You will have the opportunity to undertake relevant work experience throughout your programme. Your tutor will help you identify the employability skills you need to improve, and our dedicated work experience team will help find a placement that’s right for you.
Pass at Level 2 Media Makeup or equivalent qualification.
On going assessment of your skills and industry standards through observations, assignments and online exams. final Practical observations of skills against set criteria.

There are lots of different options to continue your studies after level 3 qualifications. These include specialised vocational degrees , Honours Degrees (usually 3 year courses, although they may include a sandwich year on work placement).
It is very important to find out about all of your options after you have completed your course. Some careers will require specific qualifications and training for you to work in the sector, whereas other jobs and careers do not have a set training route.
You may also choose to apply for an Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3) or Higher Apprenticeships (Level 4/Foundation Degree).
