Music A2 at King David High School

Course description

At A2 level pupils will:

* explore different areas of study that will include The Western Classical Tradition, Choral Music in the 20th Century, Chamber Music from Mendelssohn to Debussy, four decades of Jazz and Blues 1910 - 1950 and study of a set work.
* learn about development of musical ideas through various compositional techniques and arranging (including music technology).
* learn about producing a high quality musical performance through either liver performance or music technology

Entry requirements

GCSE Music Grade C and above. Some practical ability on one instrument at AB Grade 5 standard and the ability to read music.

To follow the music technology options some prior knowledge of music technology software and recording.

Assessment

At A2 pupils will be assessed through a 2 hour 15 minute 3 section written and listening exam based on the areas of study and the set work, composition coursework based on briefs.
