Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care Level 3 at The Maltings College

Course description

This two year course will prepare you for life in the health and social care industry—a major employer of almost four million people in the UK. Services provided by this sector will be used by every individual and family in the UK.

Our lecturers have vocational experience in the relevant sectors and are qualified at degree and post-graduate level. You will need to undertake 100 hours of work experience in a relevant vocational setting. Your lecturer will help you to arrange this.

Our classrooms are built to provide a practical and unique learning experience.

Course content

You will learn how to:

  • develop effective communication
  • understand anatomy and physiology
  • improve your personal and professional development
  • understand health psychology
  • provide dementia care
  • safeguard patients
  • promote health and nutrition
  • care for children and young people

Our tutors work closely with the managers and staff from the Fountain Springs Day Nursery based in The Maltings - our local OFSTED ‘Outstanding’ nursery. www.fountainsprings.co.uk

Entry requirements

To apply for a Level 3 course you need to hold a minimum of 5 A* - C GCSE grades (or equivalent). Some of our Level 2 courses offer access to our Level 3 courses. Of course, we recognise that there can sometimes be circumstances where it is appropriate for students who may not meet these requirements to join a course at a particular level. Please do contact us to discuss your application should this be the case.

Financial information

Financial assistance for meals, transport, course uniform and equipment is available for students who meet the criteria set out by the DFE.
