Hairdressing Traineeship at Isle of Wight College

Course description

This is for those who would like to try out the beauty industry environment. Over the summer you will gain valuable experience and new skills that will support you to progress to either a full time course or an apprenticeship with an employer. Course dates are 5th August to 16th September 2015, attendance at college will be every Wednesday and work experience will be subject to agreement with employer.

Course content

In the college salons you will be learning good customer service skills, Introduction to basic hair care, how to assist and support a Hair Stylist, learning about professional presentation, improving your own learning, personal and social development and health and safety in the workplace. You will also be improving your English and maths skills to support in your future career.

Entry requirements

This course is suitable for those aged 16 – 24 who do not hold a full Level 3 qualification. There are no specific entry requirements as the course is designed to meet individual requirements.


Students will mainly have a practical timetable which will include sessions working in a commercial Hair salon.
