Btec Level 1 Plumbing at Cockburn John Charles Academy

Course description

The Level 1 Plumbing Introduction has a mixture of practical and theory lessons enabling you to gain an all round understanding of plumbing. You will work with a very wide selection of materials, metals, plastics and an interesting range of systems providing cold and hot water, heating, sanitation and drainage. Some plumbing components are basic, others, including boiler controls, have electronic control systems, which require highly skilled craftspeople who can operate competently in a wide range of skill areas.

Course content

You will study a number of units comprising of:

  • Cutting and Bending Conduit
  • Working with Compression Fittings
  • Connecting Flex and Apparatus

Steel Pipework and Fittings


Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at Grade D or above

Future opportunities

These subjects will provide you with the specific skillset needed for a career within the industry.  Students should choose two of these subjects.
