BTEC Level 3 Applied Science at Stepney Green Maths and Computing College

Course description

For anyone who sees their future career in Science, the Level 3 Diploma in Applied Science is an excellent starting point. It covers a wide range of topics across the three sciences and will allow you to acquire and develop a high level of practical laboratory and analytical skills. It is course-work based, which means that you have a very clear understanding of your progress throughout the course, to help you plan and achieve your next steps. 

Blending together a mix of theoretical and practical topics in a well-resourced environment, the course covers a wide range of topics to allow you to explore the world of science in depth, helping you to identify areas of interest and your future pathways. Some of the units we cover at Stepney over two years include the following:

General Science – Fundamentals of Science, Perceptions of science, Working in the science industry and Scientific practical techniques

Biology – Physiology of the human body, Biochemistry and biomedical techniques, Diseases and infections

Physics – Electrical circuits and their applications, Astronomy

Chemistry – Chemical lab techniques

Mathematics – Mathematical calculations for science
