Level 2 Diploma in Music Performance & Production (Music Technology) at Ashford College
A solid introduction to the exciting world of music technology including studio recording and production, digital music composition and commercial release, music industry studies, plus live performance and event management.
Take part in our exciting work experience programme to gain real-world skills with our prestigious partner venues, festivals and commercial recording studio. Attend industryled seminars and practical workshops throughout the year.
The course provides students with excellent access to digital music composition suites, including tuition on Logic Pro and Ableton, music creation hardware and a state-of-the-art commercial recording studio. You will work with supportive and inspirational staff, who are all active professionals in the music industry. They will work closely with you to ensure that you develop the technical ability, personal skills and confidence to be able to progress to advanced level courses, such as Level 3 Music Technology. You will cover areas including:
• Audio production - Learn to record and mix a wide range of music projects in the studio.
• Digital music composition - Introduction to computer music creation: investigate contemporary musical genres and methods of releasing your music commercially.
• Music industry and practice - Explore areas and careers to develop practical professional skills, in preparation for work in the music industry.
• Live performance and events management - Introduction to the technical aspects of live performance and event management, including marketing and promotion, plus live performance with the latest software and hardware.
You will need four GCSEs at Grades D/3 or above, including English and maths or alternatively a Level 1 Diploma in a Creative or related subject, and functional skills qualifications in English and maths at Level 1 or above.
You will be required to attend an interview and complete an interview task to demonstrate your suitability for this course. You will also need a positive recommendation or reference from your school/tutor.
Progress on to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music Performance and Production providing you achieve a Merit or Distinction or start your career in the music industry.
