English Language GCSE at Strode's College

Course description

This course is divided into three core units. Unit 1 is about understanding and producing nonfiction texts. Unit 2 consists of three speaking and listening activities that are now separately reported and Unit 3 focuses on understanding and producing creative texts. This course is for any student who is on a Level 2 or 3 Pathway and who needs to improve their grade D in English Language GCSE.

Entry requirements

General entry requirements for a Level 2 or Level 3 Pathway including grade D in English Language GCSE.

Assessment

Three units in one year. One written examination (40%), three speaking and listening tasks under control led assessment (20%) and four written tasks under control assessment (40%)

Future opportunities

A grade C in English Language is one of the minimum entry criteria requirements for many Level 3 courses and employment opportunities.
