Chemistry at Cheney School

Course description

The course builds on the Science covered at GCSE by further exploring quantitative and analytical Chemistry (lots of moles!) as well as structure and bonding; the AS course also introduces more complex concepts such as organic chemistry and thermochemistry.

Unit 1 Atoms, Bonds and Groups 30% 1 hour exam

Unit 2 Chains, Energy and Resources 50% 1 hour 45 min exam

Unit 3 Internal practical assessments 20% completed in lessons

A2

Unit 4 Rings, Polymers and Analysis 30% 1 hour exam

Unit 5 Equilibria, Energetics and Elements 50% 1 hour 45 min exam

Unit 3 Internal practical assessments 20% completed in lessons

Entry requirements

BB in Science Core and Additional or BBB in triple Science; B in Mathematics; C in in English/English Language.
