Further Mathematics - A Level at The St Marylebone CE School

Course description

The Further Pure Mathematics module covers Complex Numbers, Numerical Solutions of Equations, Coordinate Systems, Matrix Algebra, Series and Proof by Induction.

The Decision module introduces Algorithms, Graphs and Networks, Route Inspection, Matchings, Linear Programming and Critical Path Analysis.

By studying Mechanics 1, pupils learn about Vectors, Kinematics, Statics and Dynamics of a Particle and Moments.

These modules extend and complement the Core 1, Core 2 and Statistics 1 modules which are studied in parallel in the Mathematics AS level.

Entry requirements

Grade 8 on the Higher Tier Mathematics GCSE and grade 7 in one science GCSE.


Students wishing to study Further Maths must also being taking Maths A Level (and not Core Maths).
