Further Mathematics and Mathematics AS and A Level (Double) at Thomas Whitham Sixth Form

Course description

This 2 A level course has Pure Mathematics, Mechanics and Statistics components.  Universities often prefer their Mathematics, Physics or engineering students to have studied to Further Mathematics level.  This course is however, equally suitable for those who enjoy Mathematics for its own sake.

In AS, the Six modules provide a good knowledge to Pure Mathematics and cover the work for Mechanics module 1 and Statistics module1.  In A2, Pure Mathematics Statistics and Mechanics are further developed.


Entry requirements

Mathematics GCSE grade C or better.

Future opportunities

Advanced Level Mathematics students are in an extremely good position when applying for any university courses even when the course is not related to Mathematics. 

Obvious university courses related to this Advanced Level include Mathematics, Statistics (or a combination), Accountancy, Finance & Mathematics, Economics & Mathematics, Mathematical Education (Teaching), Biomedicine and Medical Statistics, Medicine, Psychology and Statistics…..the list goes on.
