Fabrication and Welding Apprenticeship Level 2 at Preston's College

Course description

This apprenticeship programme will provide you with all the skills required when starting off on a career in fabrication and welding. You will learn the principles of fabrication and welding and undertake various welding techniques.

Course content

You’ll learn various welding techniques and safe working practices. You’ll learn fabrication processes and how to prepare and use various welding equipment including manual metal arc, TIG or plasma arc, MIG, MAG and other continuous wire welding equipment. You’ll also study English and maths.

Entry requirements

All apprenticeship require an initial assessment, interview and employment. You’ll also need four GCSE’s at grade D or above including English and maths.

Assessment

Assessment includes coursework, exams (written and practical), oral questioning, a portfolio of evidence and practical demonstrations.

Future opportunities

You can progress to Level 3 courses in Fabrication and Welding at Preston’s College.
