Move to Work at West Suffolk College

Course description

This is an entry level course, suited to those students who require a supported learning programme. It aims to develop the necessary skills required for entering the world of sustained employment.


Course content

This programme of study includes the following: exploring job opportunities; making job applications; health and safety in the workplace; customer care; developing independent travel / commuting to work skills.


Entry requirements

This is a progression route for students who have completed Springboard, Life Skills, or similar programmes in alternative post-16 settings. Learners will need to be working at Entry Level 2 or 3 in terms of practical skills and be able to demonstrate some independence in terms of accessing a range of facilities across the campus. All students will need to have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) in place.



Learners will be regularly assessed on all aspects required for successful paid or voluntary employment leading to Entry Level Certificate in Preparation for Employment. They will also be assessed regularly on their individual learning goals.


Future opportunities

This course provides an excellent foundation for progression on to the Supported Internships provision, where employment opportunities are made available through our partner providers across the community.
