Geography A level at The Ecclesbourne School

Course description

Are you inspired by the changing world around you? Are you keen to develop a knowledge and understanding of the key concepts of space, place, diversity, interdependence, people and environmental interaction? Then why not consider Geography?

Unit 1 at AS focuses on the study of Rivers, Floods and Management, Population Change, Cold Environments and Energy Issues. Unit 2 requires fieldwork and
assesses your geographical skills, such as investigation, cartography, ICT and statistics. At A2 you will embark on an issues-based approach to contemporary geographical themes. Candidates will study three topics, two physical: Plate Tectonics and Ecosystems, and one human: Development & Globalisation. Unit 4B gives you the chance to develop your skills of analysis, synthesis and evaluation. You will be given a pre-information booklet to help you research an area from the specification in greater depth.
